Bottled Water Case: 8,000 BPH PET Bottle Water Line for a Beverage Brand in Kazakhstan

Across Central Asia, demand for branded bottled water continues to grow as retail modernizes and consumers seek convenient, hygienic drinking water. For beverage companies, moving from manual bottling to a fully automatic PET line is the key step to scaling up and competing on supermarket shelves.

This case study documents an 8,000 BPH automatic PET bottled water line that zoolinked mechanical designed, manufactured and commissioned for a growing beverage company in Almaty, Kazakhstan — covering water treatment, the blow-fill-cap process, labeling and the results achieved.

1. Project Background & Client Requirements

A growing beverage company in Almaty needed to move from manual bottling to a fully automatic PET bottled water line to meet rising retail demand across Central Asia.

The client’s semi-manual process could not keep up with orders, and fill levels and labeling were inconsistent, limiting entry into larger supermarket chains.

The client set several clear requirements for the project:

  • High-speed hygienic bottling of 500 ml and 1.5 L PET bottles
  • Consistent fill levels and reliable capping for professional presentation
  • Automatic labeling suitable for modern retail shelves
  • Stable purified water quality meeting drinking water standards
  • Target output of around 8,000 bottles per hour to support growth

2. Raw Water Analysis

Our engineers reviewed the municipal water report. The supply was treated but variable in hardness and chlorine, requiring a full purification train to guarantee stable taste and quality:

  • Residual chlorine: present → activated carbon filtration required
  • Hardness: moderate/variable → softening + RO for stable low-TDS water
  • TDS: moderate → multi-stage RO for consistent purified water
  • Microbial safety: UV + ozone dual disinfection before filling

3. Turnkey Solution & Process Flow

zoolinked mechanical supplied a complete automatic bottled water line, integrating water treatment, PET blow molding, filling and labeling. The full process flow is:

  1. Municipal water tank → feed pump
  2. Multi-media (sand) filter — removes suspended solids
  3. Activated carbon filter — removes residual chlorine and odor
  4. Water softener + 5 µm security filter
  5. Multi-stage reverse osmosis (RO) — stable low-TDS purified water
  6. Purified water storage tank (SUS304)
  7. UV + ozone disinfection
  8. Automatic PET bottle blow molding machine
  9. 3-in-1 rinsing, filling & capping monobloc — 8,000 BPH
  10. Automatic labeling machine → date/batch coding → automatic shrink-film packing

4. Equipment Configuration

The line was configured for high-speed, hygienic and consistent production:

EquipmentSpecification / Function
Water treatment trainSand + carbon filtration, softening, RO
UV + ozone disinfectionDual sterilization before filling
PET blow molding machineForms PET preforms into bottles
3-in-1 monoblocRinsing-filling-capping, 8,000 BPH
Labeling machineAutomatic OPP hot-melt / self-adhesive labeling
Coding & packingDate/batch coder + automatic shrink-film packer

5. Installation & Commissioning

After factory testing, the line was shipped and installed in the client’s 300 m² facility. Installation and commissioning took about three weeks, including:

  • Layout and connection of the water treatment and RO system
  • Installing the blow molding machine and 3-in-1 filling monobloc
  • Integrating the labeling, coding and shrink-film packing units
  • Trial runs with fill-level and cap-torque checks
  • Water quality testing to confirm compliance with drinking water standards

6. Operator Training

The client’s operators were trained to run the automatic line efficiently. Training covered:

  • Start-up, shutdown and CIP cleaning of the filling line
  • Operating the blow molding machine and adjusting bottle parameters
  • Monitoring RO performance and changing filters
  • Label and coder setup, plus routine maintenance and troubleshooting

7. Results & Return on Investment

The automatic line transformed the client’s capacity and product presentation:

  • Output increased roughly fivefold versus the previous semi-manual setup
  • Fill accuracy and cap quality improved significantly
  • Professional labeling enabled entry into larger supermarket chains
  • Labor per bottle dropped sharply, improving margins

With higher capacity and retail-ready presentation, the client expanded distribution across Central Asia and rapidly recovered its investment through increased sales volume.

Conclusion

This Kazakhstan project shows how upgrading to a fully automatic PET bottled water line unlocks both capacity and market access. From water treatment and blow molding through filling, labeling and packing, zoolinked mechanical delivered an integrated turnkey solution that helped the client scale up and compete on modern retail shelves.
