Bottle Water Project: Small-Scale 4,000 BPH Bottling Plant for a Hotel Group in Southeast Asia

For hotels and resorts, bottled water is a daily necessity for guests — and buying it from third parties is costly and offers little control over quality or branding. Producing branded bottled water in-house has become an attractive way for hospitality groups to cut costs and enhance their brand.

This case study documents a compact 4,000 BPH bottling plant that zoolinked mechanical designed and delivered for a hotel group operating several resorts in Southeast Asia — a space-efficient turnkey line that fits inside a small utility building.

1. Project Background & Client Requirements

A hospitality group operating several resorts in Southeast Asia decided to bottle its own branded drinking water to reduce purchasing costs and control quality and packaging design.

The group needed a moderate-capacity line that could fit into a small existing utility building, while delivering premium water quality suitable for guest-facing use.

The client set several clear requirements for the project:

  • Moderate-capacity bottling of 350 ml and 600 ml PET bottles
  • Premium water quality and taste for guest-facing use
  • A compact footprint to fit an existing small building (~150 m²)
  • Custom-branded bottle presentation for the group’s resorts
  • Target output of around 4,000 bottles per hour

2. Raw Water Analysis

Our engineers analyzed the available water supply. To achieve a premium taste for guests, a post-mineralization option was added after RO purification:

  • Chlorine/odor: present → activated carbon filtration
  • Hardness/TDS: variable → RO purification for a clean base water
  • Taste: premium requirement → optional re-mineralization after RO
  • Microbial safety: UV + ozone dual disinfection before filling

3. Turnkey Solution & Process Flow

zoolinked mechanical provided a compact turnkey bottled water line designed to fit the limited space. The full process flow is:

  1. Source water tank → feed pump
  2. Multi-media (sand) filter — removes suspended solids
  3. Activated carbon filter — removes chlorine and odor
  4. 5 µm security filter
  5. Reverse osmosis (RO) system — clean, low-TDS base water
  6. Optional mineralization — balanced taste for premium guest use
  7. Purified water storage tank (SUS304)
  8. UV + ozone disinfection
  9. 3-in-1 washing, filling & capping unit — 4,000 BPH
  10. Labeling → coding → manual-assisted case packing

4. Equipment Configuration

The line was configured to be compact yet deliver premium quality:

EquipmentSpecification / Function
Water treatment trainSand + carbon filtration, RO
Mineralization unitOptional re-mineralization for taste
UV + ozone disinfectionDual sterilization before filling
3-in-1 unitWashing-filling-capping, 4,000 BPH
Labeling & codingCustom-branded labels + batch coder
Case packingManual-assisted packing station

5. Installation & Commissioning

The compact line was installed inside the resort group’s small utility building. Installation and commissioning were completed in about two weeks, including:

  • Space-efficient layout within the ~150 m² building
  • Connecting the RO train, mineralization and disinfection units
  • Installing and calibrating the 3-in-1 washing-filling-capping unit
  • Setting up custom-branded labeling and coding
  • Trial runs with taste and quality testing for guest-facing standards

6. Operator Training

The resort staff were trained to operate and maintain the line. Training covered:

  • Start-up, shutdown and CIP cleaning procedures
  • Monitoring RO and mineralization for consistent taste
  • Operating the 3-in-1 unit and adjusting fill and cap settings
  • Routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting

7. Results & Return on Investment

In-house bottling delivered clear savings and brand benefits for the group:

  • Resorts now serve their own branded bottled water at a fraction of the previous cost
  • Full control over water quality, taste and packaging design
  • Premium presentation enhanced the guest experience and brand image
  • Compact line fit existing space with no major construction

Thanks to the savings on purchased water, the group achieved payback on the investment within the first operating year and standardized branded water across all its resorts.

Conclusion

This Southeast Asia hospitality project shows how a compact in-house bottling line lets hotels and resorts cut costs while elevating their brand. From premium-taste water treatment through custom-branded filling and packing, zoolinked mechanical delivered a space-efficient turnkey solution tailored to guest-facing needs.
